Data disc issue for backup psx/ps2 discs when sshd is installed #14

I have an issue that when I install a sshd in the ps3, it causes backup psx/ps2 discs to be read as data discs, and that's even with no homebrew/plugins installed. When I have a normal hdd installed in the ps3, the console detects the backup discs as psx/ps2 format discs as it should. Granted the original psx/ps2 discs are properly detected as psx/ps2 format discs regardless of either a typical hdd or a sshd, this issue only shows up with backup discs.

As for the sshd, it doesn't matter what size it is for me, I have tried with a 1tb model and a 2tb model (the 2tb was shrunk to 1.86tb to format on the ps3).

For my ps3, it's a CECHA01 model, it has the latest rebug rex installed 4.84.2 with the normal cex kernel and cobra is enabled. This issue also shows up on a very old rebug fw 4.53 3U which had cobra v7.01 so it's not an issue that has popped up recently.

That bug with burnt psx/ps2 media has been known since the original COBRA and I do not really know how to fix it.

"KNOWN PROBLEMS

The PSX video problem. When the psx emulator is launched "naturally" by vsh.self, it sets the video mode parameters. This would cause NTSC games work badly on PAL, and viceversa. But COBRA does a patch to avoid that, by forcing the video mode to be the same of the current psx game. Now the problem: in 3.55 this worked OK for everyone. But in 4.30, a tester and some users reported problems. The patch still works for me though. The tester and me had same ps3 models, I used his xRegistry.sys file for testing, and yet I couldn't reproduce the issue. Only thing different was the TV... Homebrew that launch directly PSX games don't suffer this problem, because this problem is caused by vsh. But mmCM returns to XMB after mounting a PSX iso game.

Sometimes, PSX CD-R and PS2 CD-R/DVD+-R are not detected by Cobra. This happens mainly on bad media and bad drives. Try to reboot with the disc inside, it may be detected."
