The ribbon controller has two modes, select-able with a toggle switch:
slide more, the "normal" mode where you slide up and down the ribbon
bend mode, where you "bend up and down" from wherever your finger lands
The bend mode is a little hard to explain, and it also doesn't feel intuitive to use. In practice it feels sort of like a mod-wheel, and could be useful to add vibrato or pitch bend to an existing signal.
But I don't think Ox has ever used it on purpose, and there have been a couple times where the switch was accidentally set to "bend" and it seemed like the ribbon was broken.
IMO the bend mode could be removed. It was a neat idea, but we have not found much musical use for it.
Removing it could simplify the ribbon board by quite a bit, these is a good amount of circuitry devoted to the bend control.
One could also just not install the "slide/bend" switch, and install a small jumper over the switch terminals instead to hardwire slide mode.
Food for thought in case there is a new revision made in the future, but leave it as it is on the current instrument.
