Intermittent errors removing annotation layer with matlab toolbox #490

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. session.data.removeAnnLayer('annotation layer')

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
11:43:20,566 ERROR 
edu.upenn.cis.db.mefview.services.IeegWsExceptionInterceptor:57 - handle(...): 
An error response with status 504 was recieved but it was not of type 
IeegWsExceptionBody

Please provide any additional information below.
This seems to be an intermittent issue when removing annotation layers. Upon 
rerunning identical code, the error no longer presents.

Has this been a consistent (albeit intermittent) problem - or was it just 
happening Monday July 7th? 

Because we were having db issues on Monday that have since been cleared up.

This has occurred intermittently on days before July 7th. Usually re-running 
the script a second or third time works. Haven't noticed any patterns, however.
