Bug Report: Ubuntu Desktop setup stuck on "Configuring system locales" #1016

What happened?

I used balenaEtcher to burn the SD card. Setup goes well, till this screen. I have used both the 22.04 desktop image with a configured WiFi, and 24.04 without configuring setting up a WiFi connection. Both times, the result is the same, see image.

How much ram does the device have? Ubuntu desktop requires at least 4GB.

marijnbent commented 3 months ago

Thanks for your reply! I have 4GB of RAM! The SD card is 64GB.

This is the model I use

I will be honest; I have little interest anymore in RK3566 and RK3568 boards. The CPU and GPU are very old and slow, not really suitable for the resource hog that is Ubuntu desktop.

However, it should still work if you let the system wait long enough.

Your board has heat sinks, it is possible that the heat creates freezing

marijnbent commented 3 months ago

Thank you anyway @Joshua-Riek, for all the effort!

@Gi-0n I don't have heatsinks installed, those are add-ons right?
