Changing instrument and then recording passed 4 measures does not default to 4 measures

steps

start recording on 1st instrument for about 2 measures
then change instruments (do not hit stop record on first one)
then start recording on new instrument passed 4 measures and notice it doesn't max 4 measures the max but keeps adding measures
