PROPOSED SOLUTION:
In our case, there is no real recommendation engine.
@richWalkman invited a simple solution - recommendation based on tags specified by the user in his/her profile panel.
When a user unchecks the agreement for profiling (this can also be done in his/her profile panel) tags should no longer be used for recommendation. I realize that it is not really profiling using data collected on the user, but it is the closest thing that we have to it. In the hypothetical future, a real recommendation engine could be implemented but for the time being, I would go with the following simplification:
PROFILING = USING USED-SPECIFIED TAGS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
UNCHECKED CHECKBOX -> NO PROFILING ALLOWED
NO PROFILING = RANDOM RECOMMENDATIONS WITHOUT USING USER DATA (USER-SPECIFIED TAGS)
