The README.md file must be removed from the branch because, apparently, it takes precedence over the index.html that is published to the gh-pages branch.
The GitHub username in the github.io URL must be lowercase, otherwise a confusing "Cannot resolve DNS entry" error (or something like that) is issued by Maven.
After this term is over (and people aren't merging from upstream anymore), I'll change the README.md and the pom.xml. It'll probably make sense to create a gh-pages branch in this repository so that it's easier for the students to work with.
