Note: this is just a very high-level idea, more of a perspective really, not something very concrete, and not something which has near-term execution implications, just noting it down.
I want to suggest that perhaps a very potent use case for Apps (formerly gateways) will be for communities. By this, I mean that there is greater space for and value in consumers interacting with each other and contribute real value to both to each other and creators, as compared to big platforms, e.g.
users may be able to contribute very highly informed value-added services, like app-level curation, featuring etc., not just the single operator, sort of like subreddit does
users may be able to decorate content with highly relevant data and information: e.g. like what https://genius.com does for lyrics
user may enjoy spaces for complementary discussion and knowledge sharing: wikis, discussions, etc. Here one obviously has to be careful to focus on the unique unlocks that come from bundling these formats into Atlas vs. people just using a third-party service.
