Forum Thread Merge Command #5022

Hello guys:

This is not high priority suggestion but I would like to suggest if we can add new forum moderation feature for merging forum threads of similar topics. This is the random discussion done on discord: https://discord.com/channels/811216481340751934/812343711870091285/1184821537015083038

I imagine it would be like this: https://i.imgur.com/kX7lmcy.png

Thanks

This looks tricky. Implementing this work with thread would require some runtime changes so I'm moving this issue to the monorepo.

Context from discord:

@traumschule:

(...) Go to the forum and search for "stable" just get updated. As you say there are mountains of now outdated threads and it's impossible to find the latest status. It's a bad habit in this project generally that new threads are created all the time for topics that already have a thread without adding a reference to the existing one. It's a mess that can't be solved with tags btw.

Tomato replied:

It can't be solved entirely with tags, but it can be helped a large amount. The other thing that would help would be the ability for the forum lead to be able to merge forum threads or to move individual posts between threads. But one step at a time.

Actually I don't have the permissions to transfer the issue to the monorepo. @bedeho or @mnaamani could you do it please ?

I think for some context here: The DAO needs to have a discussion about the future of the forum and whether we start to investigate moving it to a metaprotocol based implementation entirely at some point. The requested feature is probably only possible using this method (or otherwise must require a very expensive and slow runtime upgrade). There are a number of other basic features that need to be added to our forum so this will be an important discussion to have.
