Idea: Gateway Discovery UI #3512

Eventually it would be nice to have a tool/UI that can list out all gateways along with a description, perhaps some basic tagging functionality and perhaps also some statistical information.

I am not sure what the context for such discovery would be: who is it that would be consuming it? If we are primarily talking about people in the DAO, then I think this certainly has a home in Pioneer, indeed, there is a placeholder for a Gateway tab there already, which could hold lots of useful information about this sort of stuff, and presenting each gateway certainly makes sense.

I don't think normal consumers would discover gateways this way, but that would have to happen through normal marketing/user acquisition mechanisms specific to each instances.

If this is what you have in mind, lets move this issue to Pioneer repo.

@bedeho Peertube and a number of other decentralized video efforts maintain public lists of their gateways/instances. I guess it would just be something the DAO would hopefully maintain and run as a public good.

It may also be that at some stage Gateways themselves would want to have the feature (it could be a promotional tool or something)

This will be interesting once there are >10 apps. Not sure if Topics will apply at first since it rather relates to atlas categories but quite possibly instances specialize over time.
