Candidate repos for JuliaOcean #1

I'm not sure that's how you want to proceed, but I thought I'd start this issue to "invite" people (and myself) to suggest packages/repos for JuliaOcean.

As we discussed, I would be more than happy for some of my packages/repos to join the party. Here they are:

I don't want this to look like I want to dump all my code here 😅 I just thought that these packages/repos have a purpose somewhat aligned with what I understand JuliaOcean aims to become and that they could benefit from more visibility (and collaboration, who knows!). Of course I think they could be organized in a better way, and I think being in JuliaOcean could help with that too.

Thanks @briochemc for starting this thread and reminding about these packages. Great idea! Cool list!

Quite timely too as the scope discussion on @JuliaClimate is well engaged (this helps think of the two org scopes in relation to each other I feel) and in preparation for this OSM20 workshop.

ps. Will try to post a package list of my own and more feedback later on today. Have a lot on my agenda these coming days...

Let's start with linking folks to this thread and gauge their interest for contributing. For now maybe we can maybe just outline the org scope like this : anything related to ocean research, education, and outreach that seem topical enough to fit here better than in @juliaclimate

In my mind anyone in @juliaclimate @juliageo @gher-ulg @biojulia who is willing to contribute here is very welcome to do so.

Does everyone get an email from me just mentioning an org here? or should I list org members?

On top of my head ... will add individual names shortly

preparation for this OSM20 workshop

I created a repo for this workshop @ https://github.com/gaelforget/JuliaOceanSciencesMeeting2020

(I imagine moving it to this org later on but starting the repo under my own account for now seemed like a simple way to avoid interfering with the discussion on the org)

Great! That's what I have in mind too 😃

I had opportunity to talk with a few people along the way who seemed interested in the general idea (on top of my head this incl. @briochemc @ali-ramadhan @glwagner @navidcy @zhenwu @suyashbire1 )

I also advertised the @juliaclimate & @juliaocean community building effort at https://www.whoi.edu the other week during a Physical Oceanography seminar I presented there -- I sense some enthusiasm!

Right now I am at https://scripps.ucsd.edu and already got a few very positive reactions when mentioning @julialang with folks telling me that they plan to come to the workshop on Tue (I am getting worried I did not get a big enough room actually...)

Recently I just released a package PlanktonIndividuals.jl, an individual-based model to simulate the physiology of phytoplankton (and zooplankton under development) in dynamic fluids.

It would be really great for my package to join the organization.
