Exciting news! @shashi, the core author of Julia Symbolics, is nearing the completion of his PhD in Mathematics and Computational Science at MIT Math-CCSE & CSAIL @JuliaLabs. The expected graduation date is May 2024.

Shashi's thesis, titled "Symbolic-numeric programming in scientific computing", explores the fascinating intersection of symbolic and numerical computation within scientific applications. We eagerly await the final steps in his journey:

You can check the first and third items, and maybe post a photo.

Shashi successfully defended his thesis! He argued that symbolic programming, much like salt in a dish, adds depth and versatility to many modeling and simulation tasks, ultimately enhancing their effectiveness and elegance.

The @JuliaLabs members surprised Shashi with a copy of Compilers (aka the Dragon Book) filled with personal messages from everyone! Shout out to @TorkelE for the awesome idea.
