Your concern is indeed valid. However, we feel that there is no ideal way to express this in English. Our intention behind enclosing the default output in quotation marks was to convey to the reader that the enclosed sentence is what will be displayed on the User Interface. Removing the quotes may still cause the reader to interpret it as a string literal. Nevertheless, we acknowledge this as a possible improvement to our User Guide.
Furthermore, regardless of how the reader chooses to interpret the quotations, it does not interfere with usage of the product. Thus we will mark this as not in scope.

Reason for disagreement: Thank you for your response. I believe that there are other better alternatives to convey the information to users, rather than simply removing the quotes. For example, "The default is that no year of birth is provided", which would better clarify the meaning. I agree that it does not interfere with usage of the product, but I have indeed labelled it as a documentation bug because it concerns the reader who may erroneously interpret the meaning.
In the attached screenshot, it states "Default: 'No year of birth'", for example. But this may be interpreted as the literal string 'No year of birth' due to the quotation marks. Hence, this could be reformatted to explain in plain words.
