Is this project dead? #40

Since David has announced his departure from Juniper and there appears to be a lack of progress on open issues/PRs I feel as if this project may be abandoned.

Can someone internally please confirm the plans for this project so we can determine if we should dedicate our efforts to a private fork or if we can expect some of the performance issues to be addressed.
