7 years ago I've done some research on this and will almost certainly be changing how I move data around after this season to make it easier and load optimistically.

do not show a loading screen every time the app loads. If you haven't heard of Optimistic UI, search for it on smashingmagazine.com (I was once our team's webmaster and that clarified many things for me.) (Brendan)
