Tool to figure out if top 1-2 layers are “dirt” and then ignore them if prompt suggests so #1

One problem with geology descriptions sometimes is the top layer or two is very young poorly lithified stuff not very in common with the “outcrops” or regional geology. Hence, you might sometimes want to ignore it or concentrate on it.

where there is nothing but young stuff around, so old passive margins with long standing current deposition (gulf coast), you might want to include it.

Anywhere there is other bedrock around, you’re going to probably want to skip it by default unless prompted otherwise.

Anything that is 0 thickness would qualify. Anything that is very young, so <5milliom years old would qualify. Sometimes, you might skip anything 0-10? Not sure where a general cut off might be?

If the second layer is much older, 20Ma, then probably jump to that one if thickness <50m?

how might this be worded such that prompt language is considered?
