Storage / Resource Management / Logistics Tiering #18

Purpose Centralize discussion of when various logistics, and autocrafting infrastructure becomes available to players, with a theme of more advanced and powerful forms of logistics being unlocked in later tiers.

Tier 1

Storage Basic vanilla style storage with minor improvements Chests AA Crates YABBA (without Barrel Connector) IE Wooden Storage Crate (make it craftable without treated wood)

Piping Hoppers Faucets

Tier 2 - 2C

Description: Improved logistics and automatic crafting (ME), still manual input. Only the basics of Applied Energistics should be enabled

Tier 2

Thermal Dynamics Itemduct - Tin/Glass Fluiduct - Copper/Glass Basic Servo - Basic Conveyor Intermediate Servo - Intermediate Conveyor Retrievers - Filter -Filters will require bronze/steel/aluminum

Extra Utilities 2 Transfer Node -

Integration Foregoing Block Placers (will need to nerf to cost more energy per placement)

No importers, no exporters, definitely no external storage, constructors, or destructors yet, only autocrafting for Refined Storage No wireless access (ender chests or wireless networks)

Tier 3

Improved Fluid Storage Worldgen and automation in Tier 3 involves a lot of fluidhandling and processing, so fluid storage will be improved. Still no exporters, importers, or external storage, but there will be larger multitanks

Reinforced, Signalum Servos, Filters, and Retrievers

Sequential Crafter from Thermal Expansion

AA Block Placers as an expensive upgraded version of IF Block Placers (since these don't use energy)

Tier 4

Applied Energistics at the base level with export busses and import busses, have not yet decided if I want to include Exporters/Importers at all for Refined Storage (justifying the additional complexity of channels from AE2).

Molecular Assemblers, RFTools Crafter, etc. are available at this stage

AA Ranged Block Placers as an even more expensive upgraded version of IF Block Placers

Tier 5

Storage Busses and Ender Chests become unlocked.

Tier 6

Flux Points, and all forms of wireless are now enabled (Wireless crafting Terminal, etc.)

Further storage options: IE Wooden Storage Crate (single chest that does not lose inventory) (currently T1) IE Silo (huge single-item storage) (currently T2) ProjectE Alchemical Chest (needs diamonds) (currently T3) RFTools Modular Storage (needs nether quartz) (currently T4) TE Strongbox (currently T2)

Further logistics options: IE Conveyor Belts (currently needs iron, redstone and leather, which makes it T2) Mekanism Transporters (needs steel, T3?)

For Refined Storage why don't you make it like EnderIO Inventory Panel where you have to use external Storage as i think 1k disk drives are pretty high tech for tier 2 and maybe could be put in Tier 3 along with the Fluid Storage. I think it would give even more of a incentive to upgrade to the AE2 System.

@Pandemoneus IE Wooden Storage Crate - Noted, particularly because of the not losing inventory, in fact after realizing this, I might make it a prat of the TE Satchel Recipe IE Silo - slightly redundant, as TE Caches and Drawers/Crates/Disk Drives can make it redundant and are single block solutions, I would have to disable all of the aforementioned only to incentivize the Silo, which is too much opportunity cost ProjectE Alchemical Chest - seems legit, don't think it deserves to be nerfed, in fact I might make this loot available in dungeons or in mineshafts Modular Storage - I wanted to adopt Divine Journey's stance on RS/AE2 and make the autocrafters early to make the microcrafting grind easier. The modular storage actually should be buffed to Tier 2, except for the remote storage module, which will be nerfed all the way down to Tier 4/5 due to the wireless remote. The Storage Tablet will also be nerfed to Tier 4 as well due to its ability to carry so many portable storage like a backpack. I'll have to find appropriate recipes for each module level.

@Zer0Lyfe Mostly due to lag, and also due to the fact that if External Storages are available, it sets up WAY more abuse for slotted storage actually than giving out 1ks or 64k storage drives. A disk drive is uncraftable at this tier, and can ONLY be found in loot chests in various dungeons, so if they wanted to store more than 10k items, they will have to go exploring for another disk drive, whereas 10k items is basically 5 unupgraded items and a drawer controller. And I don't think it would be enough of a payoff to have only drawer controllers as dungeon loot instead. In addition, drawer controllers are more powerful because I cannot configure the power usage, right now RS has an energy multiplier of 15 above normal, so theyll need, and autocrafting parts could easily require 5k - 8k rf/t or risk blacking out your entire system. With these reasons, I don't think external storages are appropriate early game, and that limiting how many disk drives they can use to house their storage discs.

The exporters/external storage/importers/constructors/destructors are unlikely to be enabled for Refined Storage. However, AE2 systems will have their busses intact, and annihilation/formation planes, providing incentive to deal with a channel system.

ah ok i understand now. i thought the disk drive was craftable and you could have as much you wanted at this stage :/ but that is a good solution
