getting started with CompassApp on a Mac #276

I am considering buying this app for a Mac running OSX 10.9.5. However, after reading the issues, I have some questions. It looks like people are having trouble with the latest release. Is it better to use the older release instead? Will it work on this system? This is a very new computer (about 2 weeks old).
