Merge in later STACK changes #7

We should integrate new developments from the official STACK into the fork. At least, it should be tried and tested. If it creates a mess, we may have to think twice.

STACK 4.3 is out, meaning that tthere is scope to make the graphical editor official. This makes integration and testing the most critical task.

This seems ok now. If any problems are detected, they should be filed as new issues.
