Android App stopps playing shortly after switching focus to home screen / other app #1560

Is there an existing issue for this?

Current Behavior

Spotube app v.3.7.0 stopps playing when not in focus after about 10 seconds when leaving app and switching to home screen while playlist is playing on android.

Expected Behavior

Android app continues playing while app is running in the background as it used to work in v3.6.0

Steps to reproduce

  1. open the app in v.3.7.0
  2. start playing a song
  3. leave app by pressing home button or opening other application (i.e. browser)
  4. wait 10-15 seconds => active song will stop playing

Operating System

Android 14

v3.7.0

Additional information

Locking phone / turning off screen while spotube is running in front will continue playing.

Not fixed in v3.7.1 for Android.

Streaming music e.g. with Bluetooth headphones. After one or two songs when the song ends, the next song never starts. Only when I skip the song with the media control button, the next song starts.

Same issue for me on my Pixel 8 Pro

The hack with manually skipping only works temporarily. After a certain time (maybe 10 minutes) Spotube is completely dropped. You then have to clear cache and wipe Spotube from active processes to make it work again. Currently it's a horror to listen music.

Try with 3.8.0. Now the app is kept alive with the musicc service. So it doesn't go out priority by the OS
