Can not login to Spotify through Facebook #1799

Is there an existing issue for this?

Current Behavior

when login with facebook it said "You must login to continue." image

Expected Behavior

should be login like normal

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the app
  2. To settings > connect with spotify > continue with facebook
  3. Fill the credential
  4. It show "you must login to continue" at facebook login screen

Operating System

Windows

Spotube version

v3.8.0

Installation source

Website (spotube.krtirtho.dev), GitHub Releases (Binary), GitHub Actions (Nightly Binary)

Been tried both nightly and release version from website and gitbub

Unfortunately this is only happening in Windows. The webview uses Microsoft Edge under the hood. While facebook login works perfectly fine with the full blown Edge browser, it's not working with the Webview login window

Till now, I couldn't find any solution for it. Although there are ways to enable Email/Password login on Spotify.

Google and Apple login also works. Just Facebook doesn't work.

For now I recommend migrating to Email/Password based login.

This is usually how it's done.

  1. Go to https://accounts.spotify.com on browser and login to Spotify with Facebook
  2. Then, log out and press Forgot password
  3. Use the email address your associated with your Facebook account
  4. You'll recieve a reset password link through email inbox.
  5. Set your password then Login with email and the new password

This workaround is the best solution for me. Thanks a lot.

  1. Login not even working on the lastest nightly build
  2. Music playback failure from past 3-4 updates. Forced to move to stable build. Attaching crash logs means nothing these days but I'll do it anyways. https://paste.evolution-x.org/Yv1veh

In case you are a dinosaur like me and your Facebook account was associated with an inaccessible email, there is a chance that you can add an email login. From Spotify website (after you are logged in) click on profile pic, select: Account Go to Security and Privacy Select Edit Connection Settings (I'm translating this part might be different in you language) check if there is an Email & Password associated with your account. If no, just add yours. 😉
