Genre of the downloaded song (M4A) #1819

Is there an existing issue for this?

Pain

Currently when downloading any song it shows the artist, album and title of the song, plus its cover, but it does not show the genre of the downloaded song.

Suggested solution

I suggest displaying the genre of the song using perhaps spotify or youtube data to get it.

I just noticed that the composer doesn't show up in the downloaded tracks either, maybe it can be added as well?

The genre is actually not exposed by the Spotify public API thus we can't write it to metadata while downloading. We've to use other services like musicbrainz or lastfm to get those details

@KRTirtho Jiosaavn has a genre tag that contains tags like KOREAN, ENGLISH, HINDI etc. I know jiosaavn genre field values arent exactly (Genres ) but i like that implemenatation of Language as tag. Maybe you can add this tag, fetched from jiosaavn and add it to songs metadata, or give a toggle that allows us to add genre tag from jiosaavn. Sugggesting this because currently spotube downloads audio files from jiosaavn as well
