Please see the release notes: https://github.com/KSP-RO/ProceduralParts/releases/tag/v2.1.0

I found if you installed this mod after you started a new game, the parts couldn't be updated. SO MAKE SURE YOU START A NEW GAME AFTER YOU INSTALL DIS!

DRVeyl commented 3 years ago

That sounds incorrect. Please see the release note referenced above: if you update in an existing career game, there are new PartUpgrades in tech nodes that you may have already unlocked. You just need to go back to those PartUpgrades and purchase them from the R&D.

KellanHiggins commented 3 years ago

I guarantee you that the parts upgrades in the tech nodes were not showing up. Only upon starting a new career did the nodes show up. I am running the latest KSP and both expansions.

By the way @DRVeyl, if you created this (I can't tell who did all the work) I just wanted to say it is probably one of my top mods for KSP. I was having real trouble figuring out why I couldn't get bigger tanks and will literally not play KSP without these tanks.

My process to get this problem was.

  1. Install KSP 1.11 and the two expansions.
  2. Install about 10 mods
  3. Start a career mode
  4. Freak out because I forgot procedural parts
  5. Install procedural parts
  6. Find that the upgrade icons for bigger parts in the research building weren't showing up, but the initial parts were
  7. Do a bunch of research to find out why
  8. Restart career mode and find them
  9. Post here just in case someone runs into my edge case!

Anyways, thanks again for all the hard work. You are da real MVP.

KellanHiggins commented 3 years ago

Okay, I figured out what I did wrong. You have to make sure under the "Advanced Tab" that "Parts Upgrade" is green or else it won't show the bigger parts upgrades.

I'm the latest in a list of several folks who have created, maintained, and/or rewritten this mod. :)

That's interesting, is that a new difficulty option in 1.11? The original post was tagged as 1.8.1, didn't realize you were working in a different version.

KellanHiggins commented 3 years ago

I just jumped from 1.4.5 to 1.11 so a lot has changed! Most of the mods seem to be only updated to about 1.8 or 1.9, so I am just throwing caution to the wind and installing things to see if they work.

You are right about the tag, I was just piggybacking onto this guy. Maybe put a note in the readme about parts upgrade?

The game is not playable without Procedural Parts IMHO :).

Pretty sure that option has been around since at least KSP 1.2; maybe even longer.

KellanHiggins commented 3 years ago

@siimav I've never seen it before, but I may have just missed it.
