GEO - Batum State Population Too Low! #17201

Quick questions OS: HOI4 version: Latest Kaiserreich version: Latest List any other mods used: None Were you using Steam? Yes Were you in multiplayer? No Which expansions do you NOT have? N/a

Explanation of the issue:

The Batum state (which encompasses the Adjara-Artvin provincial regions) has a population of ~60k which is far too small, considering the Adjaran ASSR in the 1939 Soviet census had a population of 200,106, and the Artvin province of Turkey (roughly corresponding to the southern section of the Batum state) had a population of 109,393 in the Turkish 1935 census, meaning the Batum state's population would realistically be around 350,000 if deducting for Soviet Russian settlers, and Christian Armenians/Georgians unwilling to live under the Ottoman Empire.

Will the historical 1878-1918 Kars & Batum Oblast borders be drawn in for the in-game Kars-Igdir and Batum states? They make sense from a geographical perspective (most of the Russo-Turkish border here are mountain ranges), and it's exactly the minimum an irredentist Russia would want back. Currently, these states' provinces are too rounded and extend too far west, without historical considerations except for unrealistic Georgian claims to the Paris Peace Conference.

I would suggest making the area in red in the map into two states, Kars-Igdir (extending from Mt Ararat up to Ardahan/Kura-River) and Batum (Pretty much as it currently is, but with a slightly revised southern border), and shift the Lazistan state to the west of the Batum state (not as part of the OTL Kars/Batum regions), to make it look like the Lazistan Sanjak of the Trebizond Vilayet. This change wouldn't add new states but would enhance accuracy by more than a mile.

The current in-game Lazistan state actually goes into the Olti and Ardahan regions (Which are overwhelmingly Kurdish and Turkish inhabited), my proposed Lazistan focused around the Sanjak borders would instead focus on including mostly the Laz's as well as other Muslim Georgians which are mainly concentrated adjacent to the Black Sea coast.

Also, the Erzurum state is called as such, but it doesn't even have Erzurum as a victory point or city, just a city texture where it should be, making it seem like a ruin, despite it being one of the Ottoman Empire's key cities of the east.

My discord username is NovaKrai#7409 I used to help with lore and research on the KR Caucasia dev team, happy to rejoin to help nail the accuracy, I'm great with research and statistics, ethnography, mapmaking and own several books on Transcaucasia and Turkey around the 1917-1921 period.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Load up Game, click on Batum.

Possible cause:

Not nearly enough research effort when producing this state

Fixed the pop. As for the border changes, they will be considered by the Caucasus dev.
