From what I understand after combing through old research notes made by our Russian contributor on the team back in 2020, keep in mind that 2D GFX > 3D models in terms of consideration, not the other way around.
Firearms
Air
Matching 3D models will be rolled out when they're done.
Tanks
1., 2., 3. We'll see what can be done with the GFXs here
There also the current problem of Russia's air setup being identical to vanilla HOI which has also resulted in a number of weird things, mainly the redundant "DB-3" with a Tu-3's GFX, and the lack of named transport plane that can work for the majority of the game and not just be a Tu-3.
Russia should realistically have no strategic bombers at game start and probably a smaller air force in general at game start, composed primarily of Interwar fighters (I-15s) and tactical bombers (Tu-1s) with an increasing stockpile of level 1 fighters and tactical bombers.
As a preface, I have NSB, BBA, Eastern Front Planes, Allied/Axis Armor, and all KR-Supported Submods enabled.
Infantry Equipment
As of right now, Russia's roster of small arms is strange to say the least.
First of all what is a PPS-2? Why is it a normal PPSh-41 on the 3D models?
Suggestion 1: Remove the PPS-2. Full Stop.
Suggestion 2: Swap the SVT-38 out for a normal-looking Spagin-based Submachine Gun.
Suggestion 3: Rename the AVS-36 for the SVT-35 or some other earlier year because there's no way an entire army would be equipped with a gun of the model of a year that has literally just started.
Suggestion 4: Have a huge stockpile of Mosin-Nagants already in the service in the Army. Like I said in suggestion 3, there's no way Infantry equipment 2 would still be issued en masse in 1936, requiring a phasing-out period before the Weltkrieg. The Mosin would undoubtedly remain in service in some capacity throughout the Second Weltkrieg.
Suggestion 5: Add the AK-47 (AK-44) as the Infantry Equipment 4. The model currently exists in Road to 56, I am sure McNaughton will allow it. As for the name; AK-44 would be more plausible, but the GFX should be consistent with the model unlike the "PPS-2." Why an AK-type assault rifle for Russia, every tag near or within Germany's sphere has an AR, and given the existing premise of non-Soviet Russia probably helping arms design efficiency and the attritional, assault-heavy nature of the 2nd Weltkrieg, an assault rifle would undoubtedly be developed an issued in some capacity by Russia during the war analogous to the STG and eventually issued en-masse following the end of the war. Having an alternative Mikhail Kalashnikov design an identical rifle earlier would be the cherry on top of a fun parallel.
Air
As of right now, provided the Eastern Front Planes Mod is enabled, Russia's air Fighter GFX does not match the 3D models currently with Eastern Front Planes.
As of right now, Russia's Fighter models are primarily the I-16 and Yak series for fighters 1-3 which is the majority of what is seen throughout playthroughs. The Fighter GFX for Fighters 1-3 are currently variants of the I-180.
Russia's CAS 1 also has different GFX to its model as well.
I would recommend redoing Russia's fighter GFX to match the 3D models, and by extension redo Russia's Military Design Companies so that weird inconsistencies and legacy elements (like Yakovlev specializing in CAS for some reason) are no longer in the mod.
Tanks
Russia's Tanks are mostly fine, however there are some issues with light tank GFX.
There is no GFX for SPGs using the light Great-War chassis.
All of the SPG models for the light Great-War fall under the 1934 light chassis.
By extension, the SPGs for the 1934 light chassis fall under the 1936 light chassis, resulting in the lack of all of the BT series SPG variants.
The GFX for the 1941 light tank should reflect its model, currently the GFX of the "BT-20" is the T-50, while its model is the widely-produced T-70.
Remove the old T-34-85 GFX from the 1943 medium chassis and add it to the 1940 medium chassis, thus players (who care) can properly design a T-35-85 on its actual chassis.
