Quick questions
HOI4 version:
Kaiserreich version: Dev Build, German Branch
The Game:
Ok Mueller you must have had fun doing this country because by god was it enjoyable. Im gonna give a brief run down as I was not expecting to write this and didnt take any screenshots/timely saves.
1936
Beginning the game I began restructuring my production, building civs, and merging my fleets normal stuff. What I was caught off guard by was the parliamentary screen, this is well done and I could immediately find information on the party I wanted to win and I found it easy to figure out how to do so. For my focuses I strait rushed the free CAS 2 and Fighter 2 you give via the focus ignoring my BM recovery only taking the 1st 56 day focus for the -15% CG reduction. By this point the German elections happened and I was in a hung parliament. Soon after this I began my military tree in order to rush Heavy 3 and start building some space marines to fight the AI.
1937
Beginning 37 I had begun to complete my econ tree down the Helfferichplan to gain construction speed increases. By mid 37 I had around 70 mils and 90 civs as I was aiming for an early war. I had also finished converting all my troops into 20w Space Marines. By Mid 37 the COF dared to raise its arms again the mighty German birb. I managed to Cap UOB almost instantly with naval invasions and the COF fell about a month after that for a total of 3 months of conflict. This is where I knew I fucked up. I chose to annex all this land as my stability trends towards 50 so I just went whatever forgetting about resistance mechanics.
1938
By 1938 I had finished the Economic and Military arms and had completely removed manpower shortages from my state. I was well on my way to getting fighter 3, CAS 3, and heavy 3. For some reason the Russians under everyone's 3rd favorite mustached man attacked the DKU to which I promptly put an end too and decided to just garrison the entire area. This basically ended my campaign as I was forced to use almost 1 million manpower to suppress the rebels.
Summery
Overall I had an enjoyable time with the nation. Im gonna do another more serious game of Germany to see all the paths but I would like to say the 1936 Electioning is fairly interactive and allows for the player to do something besides click foci or tech while in build up. I will say I am not a narrative focus person or player in hoi4 or strategy games but instead I learn hard on the gameplay scale. I feel the BM recovery is now critical enough to warrant a player finishing it ASAP and not just leaving it along to gain significant buffs for a few years with it being an after thought.
Balance:
The Focuses Reactivate Fortification Lines and Totaler Krieg do the same thing of Increasing the econ law to Total Mob. I would recommend them only bringing the player to War Econ or if it brings it to Total Mob give the player a Manpower Factor or bonus modifier.
Panzerschokolade focus change speed from 25% and a -10% org buff to just 5% speed. Germany doesn't need to go fast.
AIR TREE IN GENERAL plz dont give Germany fighter 2 or Cas 2 for free and than a 100% bonus to CAS or fighter 3. The focuses JU88 and HE100 should instead be either 200% research for that model/100% if they already have it or should be a flat 1 year reduction 100% research boost. Giving a nation access to 1940 tech in 1936 is insane and even more insane is the ability to get 1944 tech by 1939.
Political Trees
Overall you give lots of buffs in the Socdem tree to Factory output and while some is fire just from glancing at the foci you can achieve 20% Factory output + production eff cap and grown of 10% and infrastructure construction of 20%. this is a lot and combined with some of the econ paths gotta be toned down. Same with the Right political coalition tree that you grant a lot of buffs to PP and party.
Econ Tree
This is messy but as I went down the Helfferiechplan Ill talk about it as I havent played the others. To be honest at no point should I be building mils in under 1 month. I had by late 38 almost 100% constructionspeed with almost none of the techs done. Instead make the capstone on this path 5% factory slots per state or conversion speed from mils to civs and civs to mils allowing players to restructure their economy as they see fit. over 60% construction speed from foci is too much.
Designers
You have some overlap of useless/powercrept designers you should try to make interesting. All the armor designers are intresting and diverse but them all giving a 15% buff to their things isn't very balanced. The Henchel designer should definitely be 10% along with any that grant speed buffs.
All your naval designers are fine.
In air Siemens and its upgraded varient are too similar. I have no reason to grap the upgraded varient as by that point as you give out too many 150% buffs to tac bombers and an extra 10% to their research speed is nothing useful or special. I would instead make it a tier upgrade from 10% to 15%.
Infantry Motorized and Arty designers are fine and are competitive with each other and foreign neighbors/adversaries designers
Industrial Designers are mostly fine with the exception of AEG and Braun. Braun is strictly better so maybe make AEG do something else like a 20% research or 30% radar construction and make Braun a 5% radar construction.
Additional Comments
Very fun tree to play but its a lot too strong atm. Next game Ill take screenshots as I do stuff or see stuff to better show what im talking about and what needs changes.
