Context?
Context: Gitea (and its main fork Forgejo) are FOSS, sorta-federated/Fediverse alternatives to GitHub. Forgejo is to GitHub what Fedi is to Twitter.
A mirror is a way to have a synced repository on two different software forges
What advantages are we going to get from this?
Entirely free software (no GitHub copilot reading ur code)
But I let Copilot write my code already :flushed:
Federated issues/prs
They work how? (In conjunction with GitHub)
It's in beta rn but Gitea/Forgejo instances can make issues/PRs/commits/whatever on repos not on their instance. Like someone on git.instance.gay can interact with a repo on code.ilike.men
Again, does it work with GitHub? Because we will be relying on GitHub's services unless we have better alternatives.
No, it doesn't. Also woodpecker ci >>>>>> gh actions
I would switch if the other solutions would fit in, and if I could afford them (as in money, another reasons why I rely on GitHub)
Codeberg (the most popular Forgejo instance) has free CI on approval for FLOSS projects :D
Btw -- https://lavaforge.org is offering free CI rn so 🤑

Since Gitea/Forgejo is going federated soon, it'd probably be very useful to have a two-way mirror on an instance.
