I will look into it but i know that mc801a series can do band selection one time then you need to factory reset the router which is a bit tricky, on mc888/9 you can do band selection and turn it off, implementation in integration is not that hard but for me its easier trough javascript inside browser if i need it. If you try that then you know what i mean
Case is , that i need to automate it somehow... During night operator switch off some bands ,with morning not comes back automatically , therefore every morning i need to reboot the router (with takes some time without internet) , or do some manual band selection. When i have a possibility to do it via HA i could automate it .
My operator do it also, it switches 5g at night and turn it back on at 7am, so i have automation to reboot on 7:01am, switching bands also disconect data for some time so reboot works fine for me, i can try to implement somenthing to se if switching from automatic to 3g and back to automatic band can do the same.
That is even whorse.... My operator don't switch 5G at night ( yet) , however on the nearest tower there is only LTE.... Switching to 5G gives LTE anchor from closer tower , but n41 from further , with results worse DL then LTE... At my case during night stays only B3 , so it is enough i.e. first to set band to B7 , and after 30s switch all bands again , then B7+B3+B1+B8 apear... Havn't try to switch to 3G Only and then back to 4G/3G , simply becouse have no tool for that , from web page first i have to switch off the network ( so then IP is changing ,and disconnecting me , i have to log again.... too complicated). I remember there was some program in chinasse langage , with do it without disconnecting from network. EDIT: So if you think about option to change modes , please also don't forget with mode 4G/3G ( without 5G ) as well ,but best band selection (switching to 3G for a while could lower speed dramatically , also 3G is something with operators succesfully reducing.... I.e. in Poland T-Mobile don't have 3G anymore).
The operators are so crazy. I need to build an automation to change when I am home from 5G NSA to 5G SA because O2 does not allow port forwarding in 5G SA but on 5G NSA, so when I am home I use a split DNS to connect to all services, when I am leaving I set my HA to 5G NSA for Remote Connection.
because 5G SA has a 30ms better ping than 5G NSA in my case.
why are these operators so crazy about their technology…
I want to ask , how is going with developing Band selection feature ?
