Following our conversation I can confirm this also happens without the modified browser.part.js file you supplied earlier. The Javascript error is "Permission denied"; I'm actively looking for more pages that cause the same issue to happen just now, will get back to you on this asap.
Switching to jQuery 1.11.3 fixed the issue, closing this.

I've sent by email a sample plugin showing this error on the Google sign in page. I'm not entirely sure wether it is sandbox related or else, but this seldom happens to certain pages and causes them to break the rest of the content script.
