Mohamad Iqbal, Dhandivan native, been doing this for 43 years. Not much to call a home or family, living in a lodge room in Vadapalani. People who know him call him "laddubhai". Been diong it all on his own for 43 years now.

This sunday(relative to the date of the newspaper) was the 43 year anniversary of the newspaper and lot of popular figures attended. He has high hopes that "laddu" will be continues even after his time is over. He studies till 5th standard and started with his news/media jourly in 1968.

"Murasoli" was the fust place he worked for. After that he swtiched to "Neethiyil kural". Once that company closed, he started off with "laddu" in 1976. He named it so as he wanted something independent and sweet(probably not the best translation). He did all the work needed for the newspaper all on his own.

Every month by the first week, he will be done with making(printing) the newspaper and after that he starts travelling to sell his newspaper everywhere. He buys back the newspapers that were not sold the next month. Has a lot of Tamil readers in the Eranakulam border. He lives off of the income from this. Don't usually have a whole lot to save for the future. Almost all of the income comes from ads in his newspaper.

The newspaper has about 2000 people who regularly buy it. They all pay on time, but some months he does come with a bit of a loss but is usually able to make it up by the next month. "Laddu" is neither a success nor a failure, he adds.

He has acted in a few movies, but don't do that all that much as he does not want to loose "laddu". (He is 72.)

He was born a Hindu, but married(love marrige) a Muslim and so converted to one. But that did not work out and she left him.
