Feature Description

firstoff: kudos and thank you very very much that you made VOS available for KDE-users!

to make the user-experience a little it more common:

• kate is missing
• VOS-tools like software (gnome), apx-gui etc. have to be more prominent in the menu (favorites)
• is it possible to swap terminal to yakuake?
• the app-menu is too transparent. nothing can be seen - depending on the background.

Rationale

I know, one could install all that manually, but since VOS is missing a deploy-mechanism, like ansible/salt (good first secure OS: https://github.com/QubesOS/) ;), it's a too error prone and a too big burden to install every Prg for every container/host-installation by hand. not to mention that a new VOS-user will pbl. despair on this install-mechanisms-jungle (abroot/vso/apx/hanfzopf… ;)

maybe a first-run questions to install kde-full/standard/plasma-desktop" (like sw-selection in your gnome-setup) would be helpfull.

I'll try to address each of these points separately.

• Kate is missing as it is not considered a "core app" on our part - the base VOS does the same with gedit being part of the first install rather than being baked in. I recommend you install it via flatpak. This should be possible via gnome software which is provided as an intermediate until I can get discover to work stably without dpkg present.
• I prefer not to set default favourites, but I will look into this further if I can figure out where the default favourites are even pulled from.
• No, for the same reason we can't use Konsole, there is no provided way to ensure that the vso shell is used. I have consulted with the Konsole devs on this and it is just not feasible, sadly. You should be able to install it manually but you will need to find a way to ensure that /usr/bin/vso-os-shell is run every time you launch it.
• I am aware of this issue but have had no luck in solving it. For now, you can disable transparency on the taskbar in the standard way to fix this. I am hoping the next repo sync will fix it.
• The first run not working is also a known issue, in fact, it is easily the biggest problem we have as it breaks the custom-image selection in the main installer.

Thanks for your interest in the project, I'll try to update here as I work to address these concerns.

The Repo sync has fixed the transparency issues, and I'm working on the first run experience now.
