Preferably an upgrade path from 3.x to 4.x should be provided, so things can be smooth.

I will be keeping this bug open indefinitely until 4.0 is ready.

Also, likely just leave github for just pull requests? I'll have to find another bug-tracker but I do have a valid CC and Atlassian's hosted JIRA looks somewhat decent.
