Current ideas: N levels of danger (max danger 500'): Flawed because after a few thousand turns you can't find goblins anymore, etc. Breaks theme. Minimum depth without endless reinforcements from 500': Flawed because... how would reinforcements arrive from 500' if 500' wasn't alerted? Minimum reinforcements depth, with endless reinforcements above it: Probably decent? So reinforcements 200' means that at 50' you get endless waves of 200' level monsters, more annoying than being on 200', but if you really want to hunt down Wormtongue you can.
Sil's depth clock works beautifully because it calls to mind Morgoth's menacing presence and mastery over the dungeon. Or maybe it doesn't for most. Anyway, I want a similar mechanic of some sort, but I haven't figured out something that fits. Figure out something that fits and implement it.
