I think it would be helpful to recommend an extension. Some possibilities:
.csv, .tsv at end
<basename>.multi.csv, <basename>.multi.tsv
<basename>.merged.csv, <basename>.merged.tsv
.csv, .tsv first
<basename>.csv.multi, <basename>.tsv.multi
<basename>.csv.merged, <basename>.tsv.merged
Putting .csv/.tsv at the end has the advantage that the extension is recognized by programs such as Excel. However, putting .csv/.tsv first is more consistent with convention (e.g., .tar.gz -- first a set of files is archived into .tar format and then the .tar document is zipped into a .gz document).
