possible bug in Mac version of GEPlugin re fetchKML over SSL

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. use GEPlugin on a Mac
2. use fetchKML to a remote server using SSL protocol 
(e.g.,https://www.myserver.com/thing.kmz) 
3.

What is the expected output or behavior? What do you see instead?
I expected to retrieve a sketchup model, which failed (silently) on 
several Macs, but worked correctly on all windows boxes tested.

Which plugin version are you using?

Which browsers and operating systems are affected?
iMac, an Intel PowerPC, and an Intel MacBook

Please provide any additional information (code snippets/links) below.
This may not be a bug; there is little reason to use SSL in a production 
environement.

Yep, that's a known bug affecting both the desktop client and the 
plugin, and our engineers are on it.
