GE Plugin wont allow Transparent Iframe Shims #157

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create an Iframe shim to display content over the GE Plugin window (with
a z-index bigger than the GE Plugin div)
2. Make the shim transparent (background-color: transparent in the shim
style and allowTransparency=true Attribute in the shim iframe definition)
3. Display some arbitrary content over the shim (with a bigger z-index than
the shim)
4. When displaying the shim + the overlaid content over an java applet, the
transparency will work, but it wont work with the GE Plugin.

What is the expected output or behavior? What do you see instead?
Expected would be to see the GE plugin through the transparent iframe shim,
but there is no transparency.

Which plugin version are you using?
VPlug: 4.3.11528.8566 VEarth: 4.3.11528.8566 VApi: 1.001

Which browsers and operating systems are affected?
IE 7 and FF 3 under Windows

Please provide any additional information (code snippets/links) below.

I'd love to see this happen too.

I posted about this in this topic:

http://groups.google.com/group/google-earth-browser-
plugin/browse_thread/thread/f3a5ea13984fd8e2/8ab9b547b11eba78#8ab9b547b11eba78

Attached is an photoshop illustration of what I'm trying to achieve.

Changing this to a feature request. Thanks very much for the report and the
Earth.png
use case!

Similar type of here problem. SOme kind of new error where there is a white box
layered UNDER GE plugin but OVER the page b/ground - makes GE unusable.

See screen grab - bottom right hand side where white box overlays on b/ground.
This
began to appear around FEB 24th - 27th - prior to this date it was fine.

This would be very handy for StrataLogica. I'm sure the GE devs are aware of
what this is now :).

I was able to get transparent iframes working only on Mac OSX Firefox and
Chrome. Same code running on the same version of FF and Chrome on win 7 doesn't
allow transparencies.
