Insertion of OpenGL Overlays #161

What should this feature enhancement do?

The plugin should have a callback so that a user may display overlays (like
OpenGL buttons, menus, etc..) on top of the globe playfield. This would
enable rich applications using the Plugin API to be developed with the
plugin as well.
Also, the render type OpenGL or DirectX should be able to be set within the
plugin.

Are there any known workarounds that produce the similar results?

An API like this is unlikely, but please file a more specific feature request 
if there is functionality that you would like to enable that isn't currently 
possible.
