After throughly testing (different Virtualization Software, Different DirectX
Versions) I found that Windows XP in VMWare Player with 3D Rendering enabled and
DirectX Version 8.1 the Google Earth Plugin will load. This is clearly an issue
with
DirectX and Virtualization. I also tested Google Earth 5. That software would
run in
Both DirectX and OpenGL (DirectX version 8.1). Maybe users could have the
option to
run the Google Earth Plugin in OpenGL mode so there will be no need to worry
about
configuration issues with virtualization.

I resolved the white globe issue on my machine by disabling the "Enable Write
Combining" in my video card properties.

Steps:
Right Click on Desktop -> Settings
Click on “Advanced” Button
Click on “Troubleshoot” tab
Uncheck “Enable Write Combining”
Click on “Apply”
Then test Google Earth Plugin
