add the Google Earth option to the standard Google Maps

Surprised this does not come up with Google Maps automatically.  Is it a 
different department?  Are Google getting infected with Microsoft syndrome?

Likely this is because when you do add a google earth view (using
GMap2.setMapType(G_SATELLITE_3D_MAP)), it introduces some performance 
degradation in
the regular google map view and even causes some existing map utils/extensions 
not to
work.  Earth might also be a bit heavier strain on the google servers, so 
they'd not
want everyone clicking over to it just to play with it whenever they went to the
regular google maps page.

This is not an Earth API issue; rather a feature request for Google Maps. Feel 
free to 
suggest this in the Maps help forums :-)
