Request: Possibility to triangulate playerpositions in ingame scripts. #140

I'd like to see the possibility to use 3 antennas on a station/ship in "triangulation mode" (this would hide the markers from the ui) making it possible to get player positions in Ingame Programming when all 3 antennas are in the players broadcast radius. This would open up the possiblity for ingame programmers to automate doors (and other things maybe rooms) more easily and with better accuarcy.

Maybe other antennas positions can be request from an antenna, too. (without triangulating maybe) greetings

I often thought this feature would make the game interesting. Although I think maybe we need more than just Signals Exploitation. Ships/stations give off Heat, Radiation, gases, ect. All of which could be used to find it. Also, a concept of active scanning vs passive scanning ie Radar vs just listening for energy-- think of the massive amount of energy that is released to ping everything to during a radar sweep. This would light up like a beacon to anyone listening for Electromagnetic energy. Also consider the complicating factors of interference from Solar wind and things like that. Could be a very interesting twist to the game.

Electronic warfare (EW) is any action involving the use of the electromagnetic spectrum or directed energy to control the spectrum, attack an enemy, or impede enemy assaults via the spectrum.[1] The purpose of electronic warfare is to deny the opponent the advantage of, and ensure friendly unimpeded access to, the EM spectrum. EW can be applied from air, sea, land, and space by manned and unmanned systems, and can target humans, communications, radar, or other assets.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-frequency_direction_finding

High-frequency direction finding, usually known by its abbreviation HF/DF or nickname huff-duff, is the common name for a type of radio direction finder (RDF) introduced in World War II. It was primarily used to catch enemy radios while they transmitted, although it was also used to locate friendly aircraft as a navigation aid. The basic technique remains in use to this day as one of the fundamental disciplines of signals intelligence, although typically incorporated into a larger suite of radio systems and radars instead of being a stand-alone system.
