Mr loading fix #87

Fixes two issues related to image reloading

Looks good, but seen as gating tends to take about 9 seconds should it wait slightly longer before timing out?

Looks good to me, though, as @hazeld said, the timeout should probably be increased a bit. Also note a couple of (purely cosmetic) comments on the code.

Have pushed a candidate fix to the issues mentioned above in order to get this onto development quickly.
