Its all true, these steps no longer work. Any help would be appreciated.
Have not tested in a long time, Busy till after the 5th Jan. Will put testing on my list of things to do.
Might be worth asking in the KiCAD forum as to what might have changed. Doubt it anything on the Fritzing side.
Many thanks. I will put the question to the KiCad forum.
Cheers,

Hi Keith,
I am running Version 5.0.2-1. Platform Windows 8: (built 9200) 64-bit edition. (windows 8 is weird). My system is Windows 10.
I will admit I am a newby with KiCAD. For me, things start to go awry in the 2nd step in the "In KiCAD" portion of the instructions:
Then select run CvPCB - third icon from right - op amp & ic
First there is no CvPCB icon. The second icon from the right brings up a Pcbnew window and creates a subdirectory.
In the third step: Then open Netlist - File | Open, there is no "Netlist" icon or menu. There is a Generate Netlist File, in the "Tools" pull down window, but then the instructions stop making sense all together.
Cheers, Roger

Just to be clear the instructions that used to work are
Workflow In Fritzing
Create breadboard circuit in Fritzing
Export circuit to XML Netlist - File | Export Netlist
Run xml2net program
In KiCAD
Invoke schematic EEschema
Then select run CvPCB - third icon from right - op amp & ic
Then open Netlist - File | Open
Allocate foot prints
Save as cmp file - helps to name same prefix as netlist`
Go to PcbNew
Open Netlist and associated cmp file
Make sure select option - top arrow right hand side`
Select Mode - fourth icon from right - ic with cross arrows
Right click mouse button on blank bit of board
Global Spread & place
Complete PCB design
The program is available at https://github.com/KeithSloan/xml2net https://mandrillapp.com/track/click/30243700/github.com?p=eyJzIjoiWm5wYjJZMGthdEhKMV81OV82eGIya1BxX2JNIiwidiI6MSwicCI6IntcInVcIjozMDI0MzcwMCxcInZcIjoxLFwidXJsXCI6XCJodHRwczpcXFwvXFxcL2dpdGh1Yi5jb21cXFwvS2VpdGhTbG9hblxcXC94bWwybmV0XCIsXCJpZFwiOlwiMDAyZDJkMGQxODNjNGM2ZjhlOWIzNTBkODBhZmI4YjhcIixcInVybF9pZHNcIjpbXCJiMDY4ZmEwOTA0OGNiNDQ5ODYxYjZjYmEwY2UzYmVhMGNlN2QyNWRjXCJdfSJ9 and four people have given it a star so I conclude that at least 5 people have tested things in the past.

As of now, it seems that these steps no longer work. The netlist seems to be generated, but there is no (longer) any way to import it in KiCAD / EEschema. I can read it using pcbnew, but then it will be missing all the components/footprints. I would need to assign them using Cvpcb, but I can't open a netlist in there.
Has anyone reading this recently managed to convert a Fritzing project to KiCAD?
