Bug: Disappearing text after first successful countdown #1

Closed Myzlivko closed 4 months ago

Myzlivko commented 1 year ago

Operating system info

Windows 11 22H2

OBS version

29.0.2

Problem

During the broadcast, it always happens to me that after the first successful countdown, the numbers of countdown disappears and I have to restart the whole OBS for the next successful countdown.

The previous version 2.0 worked fine for me.

Anything else we should know?

Thanks a lot for an otherwise great plugin. 👍

I haven’t been streaming myself lately but I just downloaded and installed it and checked how it was working. Yes it does disappear after the countdown finishes. To get it to reappear without restarting OBS just click the ‘Cancel Finish’ Checkbox. The plugin goes into a finish state when the countdown finishes If you wish for the time to stay after the finish just make sure there is ‘no text’ in the ‘Message at Finish’ and it’s checkbox is clicked. And also set the ‘Off After Sec’ to 0 and check it’s checkbox. There is a small bug with the messages I will fix. When something is imputed it works fine but when selecting ‘no text’ it goes back to what was previously imputed. To display ‘no text’ the main reset button must be pressed.

Cheers

Hello, just have tryid timer in OBS (OBS version 29.0.2) and I confirm a bug. After using timer one time, you can not use it the second time, until you click on Cancel Finish button, buttons Start, Stop, Reset did not helped to solve the problem.

Hi Vladykus

Yes you are correct. That is the default way this version works.

Maybe I need to explain this. As it’s a big change from the other versions and people are getting confused when the display goes blank at the conclusion of the countdown. This is the default action at the conclusion of the timer but this can be changed to display something that suits the user in multiple ways. The program does not stop working when the countdown concludes and the browser goes blank at timer conclusion. The dock just waits for a user interaction before any action is done.

When the countdown concludes the program goes into a ‘Finish’ state and nothing except “Cancel Finish” will work. The only way to start again and redisplay the things is to enable the ‘Cancel Finish’.

Definition of ‘enable’ in this case is checking the checkbox of an option in the dock of the countdown timer.

These three things happen as the countdown concludes. !. If there is a message in the ‘Message at Finish‘ and it’s enabled the source will display this message.

  1. If there is no message in the ‘Message at Finish‘ or it’s not enabled the source will display will go blank.
  2. If there is a value in “Off after Sec’ and it’s enabled the display will do the above action until the value time is reached. Then the source will display as if the ‘Cancel Finish’ is enabled.

Things to be included in the next update. Put a status in the dock to give the user a way of knowing what state the timer is in, such as maybe ‘Ready’ , ‘Counting Down’ and ‘Finish’. Include the source finish display in the dock as well. Adding the ‘Reset’ button to the be the same as enabling the ‘Cancel Finish’ but still responding to the ‘Start’ button state. Combine ‘Off After Sec’ and ‘Cancel Finish’.

Cheers NarrowRiver

Hello, I confirm that after using timer one time, you can not use it second time, until you click on Cancel Finish button. Only with this button it can be restarted, buttons Start, Stop, Reset did not helped to solve the problem.
