About==Settings

Scroll to bottom, tap settings, scroll to remote start, enable, enter your passcode.

Then return to main screen, tap controls then remote start - and off you go!

Read the disclaimer!!!

It does not work the second time, which means I need to go thru the same steps again. I was under the impression that as long as I have the phone with LTE (Internet) and Bluetooth enabled in my pocket I can control the car using your watch app. not much useful without the key feature. Disappointed.

I'm not sure I understand?

You only have to enable remote start in settings once. After that, the remote start option will be available in the controls menu - and you can use it as many times as you want, after initial setup.

The watch will always require that you launch the watch app and press the unlock button to unlock - it does not support Bluetooth presence unlock. It does not require your phone, if your watch has lte. It does require that your watch and your car have a stable internet connection, as all traffic is routed through Tesla's servers. That's the only real basic requirement - internet connectivity at all times. How that is achieved, if through Bluetooth to phone, through WiFi from watch or lte from watch is irrelevant. And car has to have internet connectivity as well.

Got it thanks for all the fast responses. Would be a good enhancement to have the watch to be added in as a “phone” key to drive the car without having to pulling out the phone and launching the Tesla phone app. We are willing to pay more for this :-).

I had the same question, but once the remote start is enabled in settings (with password), as long as the car and the watch have internet connectivity, you can toggle remote start in the watch controls and drive away. No need to launch the phone app. Just like you need to unlock the car, I think its a safety and security advantage to have to touch remote start in controls in order to drive.

And in 1.0.7 you'll be able to activate 1-tap to drive. One tap on the unlock button will release charge cable, unlock car and activate remote start :-D

Works with Siri too :-D

pwzxue commented 4 years ago

That will be awesome! Thanks

Ooh, can't wait! What's the Siri command to invoke this?

Also, I posted on the Tesla Model 3 UK Owners facebook group recommending your app. Someone has responded with this: "Third party API access will need approval from the provider with ios14, good chance 3rd party Tesla apps will be banned from App Store unless they get explicit permission from Tesla."

Is that a relevant concern?

Kemmey commented 4 years ago

@Roarers that was relevant, yes.

They must have referred to this article:

https://9to5mac.com/2020/08/27/apple-rejects-watch-for-tesla-app-as-it-starts-requiring-written-consent-for-third-party-api-use/

I've since had a few calls with Apple, and my app has now passed extensive review and is now greenlit from Apple for future updates, which is awesome :-D

Kemmey commented 4 years ago

Oh, and with 1.0.7 the command is "unlock my car"

pwzxue commented 4 years ago

That’s wonderful thanks Kim. are new updates pushed down to my watch for auto upgrade or If it’s a manual process? Sorry I’m new to this nice app.
