Failed to Login. App seems locked #23

Open randyg70 opened 4 years ago

randyg70 commented 4 years ago

Unable to Login despite providing the proper login information. After a few times, the app will no longer try to process the login credentials. It seems locked. How do I login? I confirmed my login credentials. They are correct.

Kemmey commented 4 years ago

Hey

I've had that happen to me as well - but that happened after having typed my password wrong too many times and my account got locked out by Tesla.

Could you try logging in with your account on the Tesla website and verify that it still works? If not, reset your password - you can re-use your old password when you reset, or choose a new one.

Please let me know if you can then log into the app, or you're still running into issues.

Please note that you can paste into the username and password fields by three-finger-tapping in the input field in the notification on your phone, if that helps with any input issues.

Hi there,

Also experience the same thing. I verified per your instruction to make sure my Tesla account/password still work at Tesla.com, however, I'm still not able to log into the app.

Thank you.

randyg70 commented 4 years ago

Hi Kemmey,

I finally logged into the app using the same login credentials. I simply had to reboot my Apple Watch. Also, did my Iphone just for safe measures. I'm good now!

@CLFS1847 are you logging in with user/pass or token? In the app?

When using user/pass, are you using your phone as keyboard?

Could you try the following shortcut and verify that you can get a login token: https://shareshortcuts.com/shortcuts/256-tesla-access-token.html

This will help eliminate any typing errors or api restriction related errors.

If you can successfully get a token, try pasting that into the token field and keep the user/pass fields empty - be sure to use copy/paste into the continuity keyboard, using the three finger tap to paste gesture.

Let me know if that helped - if it did, I'd still like to try one more thing - changing from login token to refresh token, so you won't be logged out again in 48 days :-D

unshin-cloudmind commented 4 years ago

I have the same problem. All the above tried, watch reseted, phone reseted, copy pasted user pass (message: error occurred) and token (message: token did not work as either access token or refresh token) Help please🙂

Kemmey commented 4 years ago

@unshin-cloudmind how did you generate the token?

Have you tried this guide: https://www.watchfortesla.com/blog/login-with-token/

unshin-cloudmind commented 4 years ago

Thank you for the quick reply I did exactly as the guide say but after pressing the login button below the token field it gives the same error msg after a second: Error: token did not work as either access token or refresh token! I checked the access to the Tesla site, username and password are correct. What else can I try?

@unshin-cloudmind that makes absolutely zero sense to me.

If the shortcut issues a token and you successfully paste it in - and I can figure that you did, based on the error you get - the only thing I can think of is that you're using a refresh token that has somehow expired between generation and usage.

At this point, I really got nothing - you can generate tokens, so user/pass is fine. Token is pasted properly, cause if not you'd get an error stating token must be 64 chars long.

Are you using access_token or the modified shortcut that gives a refresh_token? The refresh can be used exactly once - so please try generating fresh tokens and try a few times.

Also verify that the watch actually has proper internet access? Can you use Siri and send messages etc from the watch without issue?

unshin-cloudmind commented 4 years ago

Thank you for staying with me. The watch works perfekt with Siri. I tried the token 7 times, always the same result. I downloaded the Tesla remote app and it worked with user and pass login and also the watch part. I like your app much better from what the description tells me. Anything else we can try?

Did you try the same token 7 times - or did you generate a new token each time?

Do you have any special characters in your password? Not that it would matter with regard to the token - that the token doesn't work really makes absolutely zero sense. But the user pass not working could be a bug in the app with special characters, though I've not been able to replicate.

Please DO NOT post your password - but it would be helpful if you could tell me if you're using anything other than a-z and 0-9.

And please try generating a new token each time you try.

I'm really sorry, but I'm completely out of ideas. A period should definitively not be a problem. And the tokens always work. They've been issued by the Tesla api and used against the Tesla api.

I just tried logging out and back in using token - just works...

Kemmey commented 4 years ago

Oh - are you using the App Store version or the TestFlight version?

unshin-cloudmind commented 4 years ago

I keep trying and using different wifi networks - might be a router problem

Sorry for bothering once more again. I have the same problem. What I did until now.

I do not know how to use the app after paying. Ah paying something mysterious. Payed with Barclays CreditCard. In AppStore the amount is 6,99 EUR but on my Transactionlist amount is 0,00 EUR. I don't know why. During installation one message was shown "AppStore is temporarily not available. Wifi and LTE works fine.

Now I deleted the app on my watch. Don't know what to do. Please check wether you get a debit from peter@peter-heixxxxxxxxxxxx.

If you have an idea, let me know. I assume that your app will not get a connection to Tesla via Internet to authenticate the user, may be.

Kind regards Peter

Kemmey commented 4 years ago

Hey,

I've made a sign-in helper app to assist in debugging and signing in with another device than the watch.

Could all of you that are still having sign-in issues try joining both THIS TestFlight beta:

https://testflight.apple.com/join/iCBIS6lc

As well as the current beta of the Watch app for Tesla:

https://testflight.apple.com/join/FdzFOLZv

You need to join both betas, as signing in with the assistant requires the latest versions of both.

Kemmey commented 4 years ago

If successful, I might have a third beta app for some of you to try :-D

Peter1711needHelp commented 4 years ago

It works. Login successfull

@Peter1711needHelp did you use the sign-in helper? Did you install it on both ios and watchos and managed to get the watch app signed in - then switched to the watch for tesla app and it was now signed in as well? Did that entire process make sense? It's quite a long process - but it's at least faster than setting up the token shortcut and getting that to work :-D

Peter1711needHelp commented 4 years ago

Ah ok i understand.  I did it only on iphone (Testflight and sign on helper). Will  do the process you described quite soon.

@unshin-cloudmind I can't see the attached image - I don't think replying to github notification emails with attachments work - could you attach it from the website or send it to teslawatch@kimhansen.dk?

But what you're saying is basically that you can successfully login from the ios app but the watch helper app still says not logged in? That basically means that the communication between your watch and phone is not working correctly - the apps are not able to communicate with each other.

Kemmey commented 4 years ago

@unshin-cloudmind could you try again with the just released TestFlight build of sign-in assist? It will show a button on the watch app - when tapped, it will list out all steps in the process - let me know where it gets stuck. Try to tap it a few times if it's stuck, though

Kemmey commented 4 years ago

Ok - so now I know where things go wrong at least.

The Tesla api is basically rejecting the token.

I'll see if I can dig into that part and extract the specific web request and print out the message from Tesla. Most likely it will just send back access denied.

I'll also make the iOS app print out vehicles on account to ensure the token works on iOS - I'm actually not sure that it does.

You did say that you could use other 3rd part apps, right? Or am I remembering wrong.

Just to make sure - there's a toggle in the vehicle to disallow mobile access - it's not that simple, right? :-D

@unshin-cloudmind one easy thing to try would be to join this beta - it runs on iphone and ipad as well as the watch - could you verify if the ios app can login?

@Peter1711needHelp that all matches up then - if the watch cannot reach your phone, then the token can't be transferred and the continuity keyboard cannot launch. I'd even be worried that if you don't have a cellular watch, you'll also not have any internet connectivity.

Please check your watch - if you from the watch face swipe up from the bottom - do you then see a green iphone logo at the top left? Or what do you see there?

Also - please try tapping the request token from the sign-in assist a few times - the first time it might not have a connection ready, so try it again at 5 sec intervals. Possibly with the iphone app launched and phone unlocked.

Peter1711needHelp commented 4 years ago

@Peter1711needHelp hey, no worries, I get how frustrating it is. Feel free to join the betas and check once in a while if you can get it to work.

The watch - phone connectivity not working is not something I can fix with my app, but I might give much better error messages in such rare situations.
