https://www.nissanofcanton.com/dealer-info/history-of-nissan https://www.osv.ltd.uk/history-of-nissan/ This talks about the origins as Kwaishinsha Motor Car Works and its evolution. https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/nissan_passenger_car.html Here are the specs and images of the first car under the name of Nissan. https://www.nissanusa.com/content/dam/Nissan/us/AboutNissan/heritage/datsun-type-15.jpg.ximg.l_6_h.smart.jpg https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/94/Aikawa_Yosuke.jpg These are some good images for its introduction. The former is the first mass-produced car while the second is co-founder.

Those will be useful. Did you want to do a specific car as I have mentioned? or just like the Nissan in general and talk about the evolution.

Also, I am adding files to our website for organization but for some reason, it doesn't want to add all of my files -.-

san5281 commented 2 years ago

Hmm which do you think will be easier? My only issue with a specific model is if you do the latest there is a concern of the project becoming dated by next year. If that is the plan I say do a specific model with a long history and/or are personally attached to, though sadly I've never driven a Nissan so I have no particular attachments. Perhaps a specific series (ex: Nissan GT-R series) could work if you want to do that.

Also that is a feel, I'll definitely add images somewhere in a folder inside website if you have issues!

Tbh I am fine with whatever. We could just do the evolution of the Nissan. I feel like we would be able to get more data and it'll provide a lot more content

If you have any other ideas, feel free to write them down and we can start working on it some to get a feel of the way we want it to be

Here is an overview of all models of Nissan from the company's Nissan Heritage Collection site: https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/index2.html

They provide a giant chart that isn't too easy to read showing all the models: https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/img/home/nissanheritagecollection-evolutionchart.jpg

The site also lets you view models by decade.

I think you could probably do something with this--see my comments in the Slack channel. I'm going to suggest something in an XML file to see if I can help get you started.

So, that Heritage site lets you view models by decade. You could pick some decades of interest. Like, what if you were interested in what happened to Nissan before, during, and after World War II, since it was a Japanese car company and hard hit by the world war? You could look at all the models from the 1920s through maybe the 1960s, and look at something interesting that was changing over time. What do you find interesting to study here?

Or choose a more recent cluster of decades, maybe from the 1980s to the 2010s? What details would be interesting to look at how they changed?

You can write XML that organizes some information you're pulling from that site, and some others, too. Pictures of cars, information about their engines, their dimensions, their wheel wells, their brake technology...Choose some features you'd like to concentrate on.

I think what we should do is markup up the evolution of the Datsun car. There is a lot of information about the Datsun.

Starting at 1933: Datsun 12 Phaeton https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/1930.html

Ending at 1969 Skyline 2000GT-R (https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/1960.html)

We can split up the cars in half and start creating XML markup for those cars. I have created a schema code that I need to push into Github. We can add to the schema code if we would like to add any other information.

I have started creating XML markup for the first car. According to the website, there are 47 different models of the Datsun. So we could split that into 23 & 24.

There is also this website https://www.nissanusa.com/experience-nissan/news-and-events/nissan-z-car.html in which we could add that the Datsun evolved into this car.

@Kennaab This sounds like a good plan! As I was paging through that site, I was seeing lots of details on the history of Datsun and it looked super interesting.

This site might be helpful to supplement: It has lots of historical info and photos: https://www.datsun.com/about-datsun.html
