My name is Ken Porter, I'm a Senior Policy Analyst at the Climate Action Secretariat and I'm the product owner. I would like to invite folks to post any questions they may have on this opportunity.

Hi Ken, As we understood from the opportunity description, at the end of this project, we should deliver a report including diagnostic and recommendation regarding your database, so there is no need for coding and software development! in that case, we have these questions:

  1. What is the need for Javascript and Agile as required skills?
  2. What is SOL? Do you mean Oracle Solaris?
  3. If we accepted for doing this opportunity, Can we have access to the software during the project?

Regards, Reza

Hi Reza,

My apologies for the delay in responding. Below are answers to your questions:

  1. While the project itself does involve coding, a proficiency in coding and the Agile process is required to conduct a diagnostic review of the legacy CEEI database and to work in collaboration to provide technical recommendations.

  2. A key component of the CEEI database is Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) workbooks for automated data loading using a Spatial Object Loader (SOL) service.

  3. The intention is to open scripts, ingest mechanisms, calculations and the database itself.

Thanks, Ken

Thank you, that is very useful information! Are you using / Do you have a preference for a specific SOL or will that be part of the recommandations?

KennethPorter1 commented 4 years ago

We do not have a preference for a specific SOL and suggest that would be part of the recommendations.

Thanks, Ken

Hi Ken,

Do you have any news related to this opportunity? My understanding was that work on this project should start this week. Considering all other things happening in the world right now, how long do you think it could take to make a decision and start the project?

By the way, I missed this discussion here on SOL. I've used FME as a spatial ETL tool before, but never heard of SOL in its context.

Hope you can answer my question above.

Alexey
