zathura and sumatra are both "minimalistic file readers". You mostly use your keyboard for navegation and there is no interface. Not for everyone but an option nonetheless.

Seconding, I love SumatraPDF even though it can't edit PDFs like Acrobat can. It's still just a really handy viewer.
