Science not working. NaN on every test except Crew report in EVA. Time to completion is always "T-perpetual". #881

So I have this issue with Kerbalism on my career save. I haven't progressed, I've just recently started and this issue occurs every time I launch from the Launch pad.

I have sent a video down below, where I have used the KRASH mod to showcase this issue, but this isn't just an issue of the KRASH simulator. Science does not work on the launch pad regardless of what "mode" I am in.

I have done some research on this problem and it seems like it might be an Kopernicus or Kcalbeloh (my downloaded planet pack) issue.

Sadly, I don't know how to import logs, but I'm willing to help you in those regards after I find out how to do so.

Thanks

Michael

Okay so I found the logs from this video that KSP made: KSP.log

If there are any Kerbalism logs, tell me where to find them so I can send it.

Are you on the lastest (3.19) Kerbalism? Or 3.18?

NathanKell commented 9 months ago

Never mind, txt shows 3.19

Should I try degrading the version of Kerbalism?

EDIT: To any readers, this will not help... Check the comment below for solutions.

Same issue; isolated the problem to Kerbalism + Kcalbeloh (clean install, with only Kerbalism + Kcalbeloh from CKAN). Doesn't happen for me with default settings but if you for instance set DistanceFactor=0 in Kcalbeloh's settings, the bug can be reproduced simply with a single command module with no attached parts sitting on the launchpad (max transmission rate will be NaN, crew report is the same NaN/9.0 T-perpetual).

Even stranger things happen when using Kcalbeloh's alternate start body settings.

(Originally ran into this issue because I wanted to run Kerbalism + Kcalbeloh + Principia, and the latter requires DistanceFactor=0)

EDIT:

Pretty sure this is what's happening in my case:

I manually set the damping exponent to 2.4105 (about what it would be for stock with remotetech, and the NaN transmission went away for me, and science started working as expected again; whether there are further issues remains to be seen, however. I've never touched KSP code before this and have no familiarity with Kerbalism internals so I have no idea if any other systems would be implicated.

@Kaleneji007 not sure if this is precisely the same issue you're dealing with, but if so I hope this is helpful.

@max-cura Oh yes this is exactly my case! Yes I did set my DistancceFactor to 0. I'll try changing the exponent, if only I knew where it is 😂.
