The width is incorrectly calculated

What steps will reproduce the problem?
dropContainerDiv.outerWidth() is being calculated at 3040PX.  If i put 0
for the variable, it displays properly.  Wondering how to fix this issue. 
I am not sure if 1.4.2 jQuery is the cause of the issue or some other plugin.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The width is incorrectly calculated on website.  When the dropdown is
expanded the DIV is much longer than the items.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.9 version of dropdown list and Windows XP with IE8
